Bee Workshop a Success!

Aum Amriteshwaryai Namah

By Amma's Grace, the bee workshop was a great success today. Nigama gave an incredibly informative and intelligent lecture on the history of beekeeping and bee biology. Markjan delivered a practical and humorous demonstration of beekeeping equipment. I gave a talk about the personal relationship that develops with the bees and presented a documentary about the worldwide disappearance of the honeybee,  Silence of the Bees.

The highlight of the day, however, was an actual inspection of the hive. Most of the people who came to the workshop were seeing the inside of a beehive for the first time. I think it's fair to say the group consensus was, "Wow. That was mindblowing."

  1. Hi Rajeshwari,
thanks so much for the bee workshop! It was a good experience to see the hive opened up.
During the history portion of the lecture, several cultures and religions were represented. Christianity, however, was not mentioned. Would you mind if I post it here?
    Thanks!

  3. The Bible teaches that the earth is 6000-7000 years old. God created the earth in six literal 24 hours days. Bees were created on Day 5. Man was created on Day 6.

The Bible contains 59 references to honey, e.g.

Numbers 14:8 - If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.

Proverbs 24:13 - Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.

Proverbs 25:16 - If you find honey, eat just enough-- too much of it, and you will vomit.

Matthew 3:4 - John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

    Quotes from http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/am/v6/n2/honeybee :

    Shall We Dance?

"The honeybee’s dance communicates to other workers a new source of pollen or nectar. Variations in the dance communicate the distance, quality, and direction of the new source.

But how did such behavior originate? The dance conveys information from one party to another in complex ways, almost like a language. It is hard even to imagine how such communication could have arisen over millions of years of slow change, since the entire colony has to understand the dance in order for it to be effective. It makes more sense to believe that a sovereign Designer created honeybees with the innate instinct to communicate with each other in this way.

So next time you see a honeybee, take a moment to thank the Creator for His abundant provision through these amazing little creatures."

While bees are an amazing creation of God's, man is created in God's image and has an eternal soul. Christianity is an exclusive faith in that teaches all have sinned and separated themselves from God. Only through repentance and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ can someone be saved from their sins and enter heaven.

Please feel free to email any questions you may have.

    Thanks,
    Dave
